Events in Bilbao this weekend (28th April – 1st May)

This Thursday, 27th April, LaLiga returns to San Mames with the match between Athletic Club and Sevilla FC (22:00). Here are some of the events that will take place in Bilbao during the May bank holiday weekend (28th April – 1st May).

Athletic Club-Sevilla FC

During the May bank holiday weekend, Bilbao has an important agenda of events. The first of these is the match between Athletic Club and Sevilla FC this Thursday, 27th April, at 22:00 at the San Mames stadium.

San Mames BAT

An important match in which the lions, once again, will try to get 3 more points that will bring them closer to the goal of finishing LaLiga in position for the European league. Tribute to the 2003 champions

Athletic Club will also pay tribute at San Mames to the players and members of the coaching staff of the women’s team that won the 2003 league title, the first of the five currently held by the Club’s women’s team.

The tribute will take place at half-time of the match. The event coincides in date with the match that Athletic Club played against Hispalis from Seville 20 years ago in San Mames and which allowed the lionesses to win their first championship in front of 35,000 thousand spectators. The lionesses retained the title the following two seasons, and again reached the top of the league in 2006/07 and 2015/16.

During this weekend, which coincides with the May bank holiday, you can visit some of the many museums in Bilbao, such as the Guggenheim Museum, the Fine Arts Museum, the Museum of Artistic Reproductions and the Maritime Museum.

The capital of Bizkaia will also be hosting numerous concerts, such as the live performance byLa Caja de Pandora on Friday 28th April atthe Cotton Club. A day later, Borja Picowill be performing at the same venue.

In the Santana 27 venue on Friday 28th April, Jincho will be performing, and on Saturday 29th April, Dr. Feelgood. Meanwhile, at the Kafe Antzokia, on Friday 28th April and Saturday 29th April, Zea Mays will be playing, and on Sunday 31st April Max Romeo feat. Xana & Azizzi Romeo.

Theatre

As for the performing arts, the Arriaga Theatre (Teatro Arriaga) will host the play Todas las Canciones de Amor on Friday 28th April and Saturday 29th April. Meanwhile, on Sunday 30th April and Monday 1st May, Luz Casal will take the stage of this classic Bilbao theatre.

In addition, this weekend the Campos Theatre (Teatro Campos) will be staging various shows, such as the monologue by Kike Perez ¿Es la Mil? And, one day later, the zarzuela La Corte del Faraón (the Pharaoh’s Court). On Sunday 30th April, Oscar Terol will visit the theatre with his play Mundo Para…lelos, and the family show Las Aventuras de Rapunzel will be performed.
