Plan your visit to the Athletic Club Museum

Visiting the AC Museoa and completing the experience with the San Mamés Tour is more than just a cultural visit: it is a first-hand experience of the legend of Athletic Club. Perfect for fans, families, curious visitors and those who want to learn about the history of Bilbao through its red-&-white passion. Hundreds of people visit the museum every day, so here are some tips to help you plan your visit.

What you’ll find at the AC Museoa

AC Museoa houses an impressive collection of more than 1,000 original objects and over 900 videos that trace the evolution of the Club since 1898, a unique journey that led it to be a finalist in the prestigious EMYA Museum Awards in 2020.

Highlights include historic uniforms, iconic trophies (such as all the Cup titles), documents and interactive activities, all part of a unique journey through the history of the red-&-white club.

It is a themed tour divided into carefully designed areas:

  • Origins: Bilbao and Bizkaia at the birth of the Club.
  • Timeline: a chronological line that combines historical objects and global context.
  • Trophy Room: the heart of Athletic’s achievements.
  • Green zone: an immersive experience with a 102-screen video wall, the largest in Europe.
  • Children’s play area: interactive games for all ages, from quizzes to trying to save a goal against Iribar.
  • Other areas such as ‘The wooden stand’, ‘Red zone’ or spaces dedicated to members and the youth academy complete the experience.

Complete your experience on the San Mames Tour

Complement your visit to AC Museoa with the San Mames Tour, which allows you to explore ‘The Cathedral’ of football first-hand. You will feel the adrenaline rush of running out onto the pitch from the first team’s dressing room, walking through the tunnel to the changing rooms, benches, press room and mixed zone. The tour lasts around 90 minutes and is an ideal family outing if you are visiting Bilbao.

Please note that on match days, the tour is modified or closed about 5 hours before the match, but the museum remains open until 2 hours before kick-off. For this reason, it is best to secure your ticket to AC Museoa by booking the date and time as soon as possible.
