This Saturday, 16th<\/sup> December, San Mames stadium will host the match between Atl\u00e9tico de Madrid and Athletic Club (16:15). A clash between two teams placed at the top of the table. This game will culminate the events for the 125th anniversary of \u201cLos Leones\u201d. Here are some of the events taking place in Bilbao during this weekend (15th<\/sup> \u2013 17th<\/sup> December). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Athletic Club 125 eguna<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This weekend, Bilbao<\/strong> will enjoy a large number of events<\/strong>. One of them will be the clash between Atl\u00e9tico de Madrid and Athletic Club<\/a>, which will put an end to the events for the 125<\/strong>th<\/strong><\/sup> anniversary of the red and white striped club<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ‘Athletic Club 125 eguna’<\/strong> will begin with the inauguration of the Iribar statue, a gift that both council and club promised to the mighty goalkeeper for his 80th<\/sup> birthday. It will take place at 12:30, by the San Mames stadium, at the point of the esplanade that meets Licenciado Poza street and is adjacent to Luis Bri\u00f1as street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another highlight of the day will take place in the run-up to the Athletic Club\u2013Atl\u00e9tico de Madrid kick-off. The last ambassador of the year, a member chosen at random last Thursday, November 30, and representing the entire social mass, will receive the 125<\/strong>th<\/strong><\/sup> anniversary insignia<\/strong> in the central circle from the hands of the first ambassador of this anniversary, Jon Rahm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be precisely Jon Rahm<\/strong> who, after handing the insignia to December\u2019s member ambassador, will take the honorary kick-off<\/strong> of the match against Atl\u00e9tico de Madrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the LaLiga match, the agreed-upon clubs, Lezama teams and former female and male Athletic Club players<\/strong> will take the baton, becoming the main actors in a parade in which, starting from different corners, they will cross each other diagonally in the centre of the field. The past and future of Athletic Club will be applauded, in this way, in \u2018La Catedral\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another big event of the program will be the Legends\u2019 match<\/strong> which will feature a combination of Athletic Club 125 against the FC Porto Vintage of One Club Man 2023 Joao Pinto<\/strong>. A game that will pay tribute to that first ever official game held against each other in European competition, which happened in the round of 16 of the 1956 European Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Events taking place during the 15-17 weekend of December 2023<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Apart from the aforementioned game between Athletic Club (\u201cLos Leones\u201d) and Atl\u00e9tico de Madrid, there will be plenty of appealing events taking place in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Museums<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

There are several museums<\/strong> in Bilbao, being the Guggenheim Museum the most popular of them, along with such interesting art galleries as the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Artistic Reproductions and the Maritime Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the performing arts, the Arriaga Theatre will host both Friday and Saturday the performance of the play La Vida es Sue\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the Campos Theatre will hold Francisco’s live performance with his 40 a\u00f1os \u2018Latino\u2019 tour (Friday 15th<\/sup>), and the monologues of Adri Romeo (Friday 15th<\/sup>) and Javier Alba del Alba (Saturday 16th<\/sup>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
